Journal mailbox, archiving and "Client submission probe" emails

My company does db level journaling which causes all of "Client submission probe" emails to be journaled. We use Symantec Enterprise Vault to archive all the emails as soon as they arrive in journaling mailbox. I am testing various solutions to prevent these emails from being archived and would like to know what other people have done to address this issue. I've read a few solutions and none of them we can fully implement. 1 - we can't turn off these probe emails due to IT policy, 2 - I can't create a "hard delete" rule as it's only a client side rule, 3 - I have created a rule to move them to Deleted item but those don't empty manually and I don't like have scheduled tasks running when it comes to mailbox management (create a PS script to autoempty the Deleted Items after a period of time). I am considering creating a transport rule that will block those emails from ever arriving at the journaling mailbox but I am yet to test this.

How have you addressed this problem?

PS. I created a transport rule but I don't think it's able to catch messages that are placed into the journaling mailbox.

Jim,

We archive on Database level and my attempts at creating a transport rule that will block the emails from arriving in the Journaling mbx have failed. My rule looks like this:

Description: If the message:
Includes these words in the sender's address: 'HealthMailbox'
and Includes these words in the message subject or body: 'Client submission probe'
                                        Take the following actions:
Delete the message without notifying the recipient or sender

Hi Rivkis,

Did you solve this case by yourselves?

Did you means this transport rule not work?

If this rule didnt work, we could restart the service of Microsoft Exchange Transport to check if the issue persist.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim

Hi Rivkis,

Did you means the journal email from Client Submission Probe still go to inbox?

You enable transport rule for Client Submission Probe, user mailbox will not receive journal from Client Submission Probe, right?

If you have enable this rule, user mailbox still receive journal from Client Submission Probe, we could refer to the following steps to troubleshoot:

  1.        Use Get-Transportrule to make sure this rule is existed
  2.        Use Set-Transportrule <transportname> -Priority 0 to increase the priority of transport rule
  3.        Re-enable this rule, then restart the transport service to check if the issue persist
  4.        Make sure ADs replicate without any problem

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim

All of those steps were performed but still not catching the emails. I am very surprised that nobody has run into this issue before...
